Bombay General Store

We have been running the Bombay General Store at Lajpat Nagar II Central Market 38 for a long time. If you have ever been to Central Market, you know how hectic it can be with all the shoppers. Our store is right in the middle of it all. We sell a bit of everything, from household cleaners and soaps to snacks and basic groceries. The aisles are narrow because we try to stock as much as possible for the neighborhood. Every morning involves restocking the shelves and checking what we are low on. It is a lot of heavy lifting with crates of cold drinks and big bags of flour or rice. We have a couple of guys who help with the deliveries and the billing at the front. The customers are a mix of locals and people who come to Lajpat Nagar for their weekend shopping. It gets really crowded on the Saturdays and Sundays. We don't have a lot of time for breaks, so we usually eat our lunch quickly in the small back room among the boxes. The noise from the market is constant, with hawkers and shoppers everywhere outside. We know our regulars by name and what they usually buy every week. It is an old-fashioned way of doing business, but it still works well for us. We don't use any fancy systems, just a simple register and a lot of hard work. The store is just part of the area now.
