Hans Rubber Industries

Our place is out in the H.S.I.D.C. Industrial Estate in Rai, at plot number 1233. If you’ve ever been to an industrial estate, you know it’s mostly just rows of factories and big trucks moving in and out all day. That is exactly what it’s like here. We work with rubber, so there is always that specific smell in the air that you never quite get used to, but you stop noticing after the first hour. The machines are loud and they run for most of the shift. We spend a lot of time checking the molds and making sure the rubber is setting right. It’s physical work and it can get pretty warm inside the shed, especially during the middle of the year. We don't have a fancy front office or anything like that. If you come by, you’ll probably find us on the floor or near the loading dock. We have a small crew and everyone knows what they’re supposed to do. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back on. It’s a simple life out here in Rai. We make the parts, pack them up into crates, and wait for the transport to pick them up. It’s not the most glamorous job, but it keeps us busy and the work is honest. We’ve been here long enough that the guards at the gate know us by name.
