We have been working with seeds out here in Mahadev for a long time now. Most people around the village know the spot near Pohu Lal’s house where we keep the office. It is a quiet area in the Nalagarh region but we stay quite busy with the hybrid varieties. This whole thing started because the local farmers needed better options for their crops and we just stepped in to help out. Solan is a good place for this kind of work, though we aren't a big fancy company, just a small setup in the village. Dealing with seeds is mostly about understanding the soil and the weather around Bhogpur. Sometimes the rains are late or the heat is too much, so we try to find what works best for the ground here. It takes a lot of trial and error to get things right. We spend most of our days out in the fields or in the storage shed checking the bags of seeds. It is a lot of manual work. People stop by to chat about their harvests or ask what they should plant next season. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. It is just us and the seeds. We keep things simple. If a farmer has a problem, we just talk it out. Being an OPC means it is a small operation, but that lets us focus on the tiny details. We just want to make sure the stuff we provide actually grows well.
