Connaught House

Connaught House sits on Rajendra Marg. It’s an old place with thick walls and high ceilings, and it takes a lot of work to keep it looking decent. We spend a good chunk of our day out in the garden, pulling weeds or watering the plants because the sun can be quite harsh. The building itself has been around for a long time, so there’s always something that needs fixing, whether it’s a loose floorboard or a window that won’t stay open. We don't have a big corporate team running things. It’s just a few of us who look after the rooms and make sure the place is tidy. We like the quiet atmosphere here away from the main road. The furniture is old and we spend time polishing it to keep the wood from drying out. In the evenings, it gets quite still and you can hear the birds in the trees. We don't have flashy signs or loud music. Most people find us because they want somewhere that feels a bit more like a home than a hotel. We serve simple meals and try to keep things relaxed. It’s not a fast-paced environment. We move at our own speed, making sure the beds are made and the tea is hot. It’s a lot of daily maintenance, but we’re used to the rhythm of the place by now. It is just a quiet house on an old road.
