Ashapura Hair Dresser

Down here in Sheoganj, we’ve been running Ashapura Hair Dresser for a long time. It’s a simple shop with the usual chairs and mirrors you’d expect. Most of the men in the neighborhood come by every few weeks for a trim or a shave. We keep the radio on most of the time, playing whatever is popular, which makes the day go by faster. There’s always a lot of talk going on, mostly about local news or what’s happening in the market. It’s not just about the hair; it’s a place where people sit for a bit even after they’re finished. We keep the floor swept as much as we can, but on Saturdays, it’s almost impossible to keep up with the mess. The chairs are a bit old but they are comfortable enough for a quick cut. We use the same tools we’ve had for years because they still work just fine. Sheoganj isn't a huge place, so we know almost everyone who walks through the door by their first name. It’s a good way to make a living, seeing the same faces and hearing the same stories. We don't do any of those fancy styles you see in magazines, just regular cuts that look neat. It’s a honest day's work and we like being part of the street here. It is just how things have always been for us.
