R K Steel is located right on Sevoke Road within the Siliguri Industrial Estate. Being in the Darjeeling district, we get some beautiful views of the hills on clear days, though most of the time we are too busy looking at steel beams to notice. The industrial estate is a busy hub, and Sevoke Road is always packed with trucks and commuters. We’ve been operating from this location for many years, providing steel work for various projects around Siliguri. It’s a straightforward business. We buy steel, we cut it, we shape it, and we sell it. There’s no secret to it, just a lot of heavy lifting and careful measurements. My father used to say that steel doesn't lie, and we’ve tried to run the place with that kind of honesty. We have a small office near the front where we keep the invoices, but most of the action happens out back where the sparks are flying. The guys in the shop are local, and they know their way around a torch. We don't have any big corporate goals, we just want to keep the machines running and the customers coming back when they need more material. Sometimes the rain in Siliguri makes things a bit damp, but we just throw a tarp over the stock and keep going. It’s a steady job and we’re glad to be a part of the local community.
