Dj Niraj

Dj Niraj is located in the Classic Hotel Building at Sevoke More. It’s right across from the Sikkim Tea House in Siliguri. It’s a very busy intersection, so there’s always the sound of horns and people shouting. I’ve been doing this for a while now. The space is mostly filled with speakers, mixers, and a whole lot of cables that I really need to organize better. Being right at Sevoke More means it’s easy for people to stop by, but hard to find a place to park a scooter. I spend a lot of time testing the bass and making sure the needles are clean. Siliguri can get quite cold in the winters, so I have a small heater under the desk. I don't really have a big staff. It's mostly me and sometimes a friend helps with the heavy lifting. I don't use any fancy advertising. People just hear about me from the weddings or parties I've played at. Sometimes the equipment acts up right before a gig, which is stressful, but that’s just how it is with electronics. I just like the music and seeing people dance. It's a simple way to make a living. I stay here most days until late evening. The neon sign in the window flickers a bit, but it still works. I keep a stack of old records in the corner even though I mostly use digital stuff now. It just feels right to have them there. Most of my coffee comes from the tea house across the street.
