Children'S Montessori Casa

Located on Syed Mustafa Ali Road in Hakimpara, our little place, Children’S Montessori Casa, is tucked away in a corner of Siliguri. It’s a quiet enough street most of the time, except when parents are dropping off their kids. The house we use has been modified to fit classrooms, but it still feels like a home in many ways. Even though we're in the middle of Siliguri, we try to keep it feeling a bit separate from the main roads. We use a lot of wooden blocks and practical tools here. It’s not about sitting in rows and listening to a lecture. The kids move around, pick things up, and figure out how they work. Sometimes it’s very quiet when they’re focused, and other times it’s just a mess of noise. Siliguri weather can be unpredictable, so we spend a lot of time indoors when the rain starts pouring down on Hakimpara. The floors are often covered in little projects or bits of paper that didn't make it into the bin. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who know the kids and their families well. We spend our breaks talking about the daily small things, like a broken toy or a leaky tap in the bathroom. It’s a simple way of working. We don't use big words or complicated systems. We just provide the space and the materials, and the kids do the rest. It’s a bit slower than the big schools.
