Ganga Devi School is located in Attair, which is part of the Bhind district. It’s a place where the summers are really hot and the dust seems to get into everything. We have a basic setup here with several classrooms and a small office where we keep all the records in big steel cupboards. Our school day starts when the sun is still low, trying to get the main lessons done before the heat becomes too much. The teachers here are mostly people who grew up right here in Bhind, so they understand the local way of doing things. We don't have a lot of fluff or extra decorations. The walls are mostly bare except for some student work and maybe a calendar. We spend our time checking attendance and making sure the lessons stay on track with the books we have. The playground is just a patch of dirt where the kids play kabaddi or run around during the lunch break. It gets pretty loud then, but it’s a good kind of noise. We deal with the usual problems like fans that stop working or finding enough chalk for the week. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. People in town know us, and we know them. We just keep the doors open and do our best to run the place without too much fuss. When the final bell rings, the kids head out into the streets of Attair.
