Vasavi Vidyalaya

We have been here in Shivamogga for quite a while now. Vasavi Vidyalaya sits right on Kote Road, which is usually a very busy spot in the Kote area, especially when the kids are arriving in the morning. You will see them walking down from Kr Puram or getting dropped off right at the main gate. The building itself is pretty standard, nothing too fancy, but it gets the job done for the classes we run. Inside, the hallways are usually full of noise until the first bell goes off. Shimoga weather can get quite hot in the afternoons, so the fans are always humming in the classrooms to keep things moving. We spend a lot of time just managing the daily flow of students and making sure the desks are in the right place. Sometimes the traffic on Kote Road gets backed up, making it a bit of a scramble at three o'clock when everyone is trying to leave at once. There is a lot of chatter between the teachers in the staff room about their weekends or what they brought for lunch. It is just a normal school day, really. People in the neighborhood know us mostly by the yellow building and the sound of the morning prayer. We do not have a massive campus with dozens of sports fields, but there is enough space for the kids to run around during their breaks. The walls have some old charts pinned up, and the chalk dust is everywhere. It is just how things are at our place in Shimoga - 577202.
