Tippu School

Tippu School is tucked away in Mandali Village, which is part of the larger Tippu Nagar area in Shivamogga. If you are driving through Shimoga, you might miss the turn if you aren't looking for it. It is a quiet place mostly, surrounded by houses and some trees. We have been here for a good number of years now. The kids come from the local village and the nearby streets. Every morning you can hear the sounds of the morning assembly and the kids singing. Our staff consists of people who mostly live around this part of town, so there is a real sense of community. The classrooms are simple with wooden desks and blackboards. We don't have air conditioning or anything high-tech, just the basics that a school needs. During the monsoon, it gets very green around here, though the playground can get a bit muddy. The children don't seem to mind much, they still want to run around. We focus on the local syllabus and try to make sure every student keeps up with their homework. It’s a very local operation. People know us by name, and we know which house each student belongs to. It feels more like a big family than a formal institution sometimes. We are just here doing our part for the kids in Mandali Village, making sure they have a place to study that isn't too far from their parents. It is just a normal school for regular people.
