Monal Tour & Travels

Our office is in the Meer Building, right across from the Panchayat Bhawan and near the old bus stand in Shimla. It’s a very central spot, so we’re always hearing the buses and the crowds outside. It’s been our base for a long time now. We handle travel stuff for people who are trying to see the sights or just get from point A to point B. Since we’re so close to the bus stand, we get all kinds of people dropping by. We don't have a lot of fancy decorations in the office, just the basics we need to get the job done. We’re local people who grew up around these mountains, so we know how the weather and the roads can be. We don’t try to polish things up too much. If a trip is going to take six hours because of the traffic, we tell people it’ll take six hours. There’s no point in pretending otherwise. Most of our work is just organizing cars and talking to people about where they want to go. We keep a pot of tea going and try to keep up with all the paperwork. It’s a small operation, but we stay busy enough. We like being in this part of Shimla because everything is within reach. It’s a bit noisy sometimes, but that’s just the character of the neighborhood. We just take it one day at a time and try to stay on top of the schedule so everything stays on track.
