Kalka Shimla Himachal Taxi Union

We are located down at Kachi Ghanti in Shimla, which is a bit of a hub for us. Our spot is near Pooran Niwas and the DAV School area in Tuto. If you go below the bridge near the Main Old Bus Stand, that’s where most of the action happens for our union. Kalka Shimla Himachal Taxi Union is more of a community than a regular business. We have a lot of drivers who have been part of this for decades. It gets loud and hectic, especially in the mornings when everyone is trying to get their vehicles out and sorted. We stay near the bridge because it’s easy for people to find us when they get off the buses. The office is just a simple place to handle the paperwork and the union fees. We talk a lot about the Kalka road and how the weather is looking for the drive down. It’s a lot of coordination between the different guys. We aren’t really into marketing or anything like that. We just have our boards up near the school and the bus stand. It’s about making sure everyone gets a fair turn and the passengers get a ride. Sometimes there’s a bit of an argument about who’s next, but we sort it out over tea. It’s just the way the union works here in the hills. We keep it simple and honest.
