Swarnupaj Mahila Kisan Utpadak Producer Company Limited is located in Village Gopalpur. You can find us right near the Panchayat Bhavan. We are in the Padmawatipur post area, which is part of Block Chhuikhadan. This is a company run by and for women farmers. It’s a really local effort. We don't have a big office with glass walls. We usually meet near the village hall or at someone’s house. The name is a bit long, but it basically means we are women working to produce good things from the land. Life in Gopalpur is centered around the fields. When the sun is up, most of us are out working. This company was started so we could have a better way to sell what we grow and maybe buy supplies at better prices. It’s a lot of coordination. We have to talk to a lot of different people to make things happen. Sometimes there are disagreements about what to plant or when to sell, but we talk through it. It’s a very democratic way of doing things. We aren't experts in business school terms, but we know our crops and we know this land. Being near the Panchayat Bhavan is handy because that’s where everything happens in the village anyway. We hope that by working together, we can make things a bit easier for everyone’s families. It’s hard work, but we are doing it for ourselves and our children in Chhuikhadan.
