Venkatagiri Traders

At Venkatagiri Traders, we spend our days at Aastha Mandi. This is over in Tehsil Ashta, in the Sehore district. We are right near the Gala Mandi too. If you’ve ever been to a mandi, you know it’s a lot of shouting, heavy lifting, and trucks. It is a very busy place to work. We deal with trading goods that come in from the farms around here. We have a small office space, but mostly we are out on the floor or near the loading docks. The dust from the crops is always in the air. We don’t wear suits or ties here. Usually, it’s just sturdy clothes that can get dirty. We know most of the other traders and the farmers who come through. It’s a community, even if it’s a loud and competitive one. We don’t have a big marketing plan. We just open up early and see what the day brings. Prices change, the weather affects things, and we just go with it. Sometimes we stay late to finish up the paperwork for the day’s trades. It’s a lot of manual work and keeping track of numbers in our heads or on scraps of paper. We’ve been in Sehore for a long time and we like the way things work here. It’s honest work and it keeps our families fed. We wouldn't want to be anywhere else but right here in the mandi.
