Our place is at Jaga Laxmi Bhavan, which is Plot 164 in Nehru Nagar. It’s right there in West Maredpally. If you are familiar with Secunderabad, you know this area has its own vibe. The building number is 10-2229. We’ve been in this office for a good stretch of time. It’s a solid building, nothing modern or glass-walled, just bricks and paint that’s seen a few seasons. We have a few rooms where we keep all our equipment and desks. The morning commute isn’t too bad if you beat the school buses. We usually start the day with some water and a quick check of what needs doing. It’s a bit of a maze of files sometimes, but we know where everything is. The windows look out onto the street, so we see the neighborhood waking up. It gets a bit dusty being near the road, but we wipe things down. There’s no big mission statement on the wall, just a calendar and maybe a few notes taped to the monitors. We’ve got some good neighbors in the building who’ve been here as long as us. Sometimes we share a quick word in the hallway. It’s a functional setup. We focus on getting through the tasks without much fuss. We just work here and try to keep things running smooth. The tea lady comes by in the afternoon and that is usually the highlight of the day. It’s just a regular workplace for regular folks.
