Pratheek Siddam Setty

My office is on the second floor of a building in Newvasavi Nagar, Karkhana. The plot number is 53. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, but it’s a good spot to work. I focus on planning and design work. It’s just me and maybe one assistant sometimes. I spend most of my hours sitting in front of a monitor or sketching on pads. Karkhana is a busy area, but once you’re inside the office, it’s quiet enough to think. I don't have a big marketing budget or a website with lots of photos. Most of the people who come to me are referred by others I’ve worked with before. We talk about what they want to build, and I try to put it on paper. It takes time to get the details right. Sometimes we have to change the drawings five or six times because something doesn't fit or the budget changes. That’s just how it goes. I don't mind the extra work as long as the final plan is solid. I’ve been in this field for a bit now and I’ve learned that being practical is better than being fancy. I just want to make sure the buildings are functional. If you’re in the Newvasavi Nagar area, you’ll likely see me heading out for coffee or lunch at one of the local places. I try to keep my weekends for myself, but often I end up thinking about a floor plan while I'm out.
