Jalaram Times

Jalaram Times is tucked away at B83 in Palika Bazar. We’re pretty close to the Railway Station Road here in Secunderabad. It’s a small shop, mostly filled with the sound of ticking and small tools hitting the workbench. My uncle started this place a long time ago, and I took over when my hands were steady enough. The bazaar is always loud, but once you step inside our little unit, it feels a bit calmer. We spend most of our time looking through magnifying glasses at tiny parts. It’s tedious work, but someone has to do it. The lighting isn't the best, so we use these old lamps that get really hot. Customers usually wait by the counter and tell us stories about where they’re traveling to. Since the station is right there, we see a lot of people just passing through town. We keep a few spare batteries and straps in the glass cases, though the cases are a bit scratched up now. We don't have any fancy displays or a lot of space for people to sit. It’s just a place to get things fixed and move on with your day. We’ve seen the bazaar change a lot over the years, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. It’s a living, and it keeps us busy from morning until the last train leaves.
