Computek

If you go down the lane leading to Niraj Public School, right across from the Green Park Hotel, that’s where you’ll find Computek. It’s a busy part of Ameerpet. We get a lot of students coming in because of all the coaching centers nearby. They usually have laptops that need more memory or batteries that won't charge. It’s a small space, so it gets crowded pretty quickly when more than three people are inside. We don’t really do any big advertising. People just find us because we’re in the neighborhood. The desks are always covered in screws and plastic casings. It’s a bit messy, but that’s what happens when you’re taking things apart all day. We try to keep things simple. If we can fix it, we tell you. If we can't, we tell you that too. There isn't any hidden agenda. We drink a lot of coffee to stay awake during the long afternoons when the heat is heavy. Sometimes the power cuts out and we just have to wait for the generator or the grid to come back. That’s just part of living and working here. We’ve been at this for a while, so we’ve seen all kinds of weird computer problems, from liquid spills to fried circuits. It’s never boring, that’s for sure. We just keep plugging away at the repairs until the shelf is empty. Most of the time, the shelf isn't empty though.
