Associate

I work as an associate over in the engineering department at the Marriott Hyderabad. You can find us right opposite the Hussain Sagar Lake view. It is a really nice spot to be, especially in the evenings when the lights come on over the water and everything looks a bit more relaxed. My name is M. Shankar, and I’ve been part of the team here for a while. Working in a big hotel means things are always breaking or needing a quick fix. One day it is a leaky pipe in the basement, the next day it is something with the air conditioning on the top floor. It is a lot of walking around the whole building every single day. We have a small workshop area in the back where we keep all the tools and spare parts we might need. It’s usually a bit messy with half-finished repairs, but we know where everything is kept. The Marriott is a busy place, so we have to move fast when a guest has a problem. It is not like an office job where you sit in a chair all day long. I’m usually covered in a bit of dust or grease by the time lunch rolls around. Hyderabad gets really hot, so making sure the cooling systems are working is a huge part of the job. We don't have a fancy website or any marketing. We just show up, look at the logs, and get to work until the shift is over.
