Amarsons Pearls

We’ve been operating out of No. 115 Parklane for quite some time. If you know the area, you know Parklane has its own vibe, and we’re right in the middle of it. Our shop focuses on pearls, so we have a lot of strings and loose ones sitting around in trays. It’s a very specific kind of business. We spend hours just matching colors and sizes so a necklace looks right. It’s not as easy as it looks because no two pearls are exactly the same. The shop isn't huge, but we make use of every inch of counter space. We get people coming in who are looking for something for a special day, or sometimes they just want to fix an old strand they’ve had for years. We do a lot of restringing on the back table when it’s quiet. You have to have a steady hand for that. The light in the shop is okay, but we often have to step near the door to see the true luster of a pearl in the sun. It’s a steady trade, and we’ve gotten to know the other shop owners on the street. We aren’t trying to be the biggest place in town, just a reliable one where you can get your pearls sorted out. It’s a lot of small tasks that add up to a full day of work, but we like the pace of it.
