Vaibhav Bricks Company

Vaibhav Bricks Company is located down in Amta Tola, over in the Malviya Nagar area. It’s not a hard place to find if you know the neighborhood. We’ve been making bricks here for a while now. It’s just a small group of us working the site. Most of the day is spent checking the kilns and making sure the stacks are dry. It's a lot of waiting and then a lot of rushing when the bricks are ready to be moved. The sun can be pretty brutal in the middle of the day, so we take our breaks under the big tree near the entrance. We aren't doing anything high-tech or complicated. It’s just clay, water, and fire. We sell mostly to people nearby who are building small houses or fixing their walls. We don't have a website or anything like that. Word of mouth is how most people hear about us. If the mud isn't the right consistency, the whole batch can be ruined, so we have to be careful. My dad started this and now I’m the one mostly running things. It’s a lot of responsibility but I like being outdoors. The trucks come and go, kicking up dust all over our clothes. By the time I get home, I’m covered in red dirt. That’s just the job. We keep going because people always need bricks for their homes.
