Pakarpur Agro Krishi Producer Company Limited is located right near the primary school on Surapur Road. You can usually hear the kids playing while we are sitting inside Ranjeet Singh’s place trying to sort out our accounts. Pakarpur is a good village, and the people here are hardworking. We started this company because we wanted to have more control over where our vegetables and grains go after they leave the farm. It gets frustrating when you work for months and then have to sell for next to nothing. By being a group, we can at least talk to buyers with a bit more weight behind us. We don't have a lot of equipment, just the basics that we all share. If someone's bullock is sick or their tractor is down, someone else steps in. That is how things work in a place like this. We are honest about what we grow; it’s not always perfect-looking, but it’s real food grown with a lot of effort. We don't have a mission statement or a fancy logo on the wall. We just have a ledger and a bunch of people who know how to plant a straight row. Every day is a bit different depending on the weather and the markets. We just keep our heads down and keep going, hoping the season treats us well and the rain comes when it should.
