La Foundation School

La Foundation School is right here in Sangrur, and if you live around 148001, you probably pass us often. We started out small and kept things pretty simple over the years. The school day starts early when the sun is just coming up over the buildings. Our teachers usually arrive on their scooters, checking their bags for chalk or pens before the kids show up. It's not a noisy place until the first bell rings, then everything changes. You can hear the sounds of desks moving and kids talking about their homework or what they ate for breakfast. We don’t have those fancy glass walls you see in magazines, but the rooms have plenty of light. Sometimes the fans are a bit loud in the afternoon heat, but nobody really minds once the lessons start. We spend a lot of time just making sure the books are in order and the playground isn't too dusty for the kids to run around. It’s a lot of work keeping a school running in Sangrur, with all the dust and the changing weather. People around here know us as a regular part of the neighborhood. We don’t go in for big speeches or anything like that. We just open the gates, get through the syllabus, and make sure everyone gets home safely when the day is over. It’s just how things go here day after day.
