We have been operating out of Tilora for quite some time now. Our yard stays pretty busy most days of the week. It is just a regular brick kiln setup near the post office in Tungi, nothing too fancy. Most of us who work here grew up around the Wazirganj area, so we know the local people and the land well. It is hard work, especially when the sun is beating down on us all day long. We make these bricks because people around Gaya always need them for building their houses and boundary walls. We just keep the kiln running as best as we can. Sometimes the heavy rain slows everything down and we have to wait it out for a few days. That is just how it goes with this kind of outdoor work. The dust usually gets everywhere, but we are used to it by now. We try to keep things moving along. It is a small group of us working out of the office space. People often come by to ask about the counts and the current prices. We load up the old trucks and they head out to the construction sites. It is a simple life for us. We do not do big speeches or have a grand vision. We just make sure the bricks are ready when someone needs to build something. We stay out of the way mostly. Tilora is a quiet spot except for the sound of the trucks. It is just home for us.
