Dalsinghsarai Organic Producer Companylimited is a bit of a mouthful to say, but we are just a local group. Our main spot is at Bhudan Mahto’s house in the village of Sultanpur Ghataho. This is in the Dalsinghsarai area of Samastipur. Our address is basically Sultanpur Ghatahotola, and that’s where the heart of the business is. We are all about organic farming. In this part of Bihar, people have been farming for a long time, but we wanted to do it the organic way. We don’t have a fancy website or a big marketing team. It’s just us, the farmers, sitting around Sultanpur talking about the soil and the harvests. Most days involve checking on the different plots and making sure everything is being grown without the bad stuff. Since we are a producer company, the farmers themselves are the ones who own this. It’s a very local thing. We use the space at Bhudan Mahto’s to keep our records and meet up. The roads in Samastipur can be tricky, especially during the monsoon, so we spend a lot of time just making sure the produce can actually get to where it needs to go. We aren’t trying to be the biggest company in the world. We just want to make sure the families in Dalsinghsarai have a way to sell their organic crops and earn a decent living from their hard work.
