I’ve been running Svk Computers here at No. 25/18 on 2nd Street for a while now. Most people know us because we’re right across from Rajasawari Theater in Karungalpatty. It’s a busy spot, especially when a new movie is playing, but inside the shop, it’s usually just us working on keyboards or trying to figure out why a motherboard isn't booting. I started this place because I liked taking things apart as a kid. Now, it's just my daily job. We deal with all sorts of computer issues. Some days it’s just dusty fans that need cleaning, and other days it’s someone who spilled coffee on their laptop and is panicking. We try to be helpful without making things complicated. The shop isn't huge, but we have enough room for the tools we need. Sometimes the traffic on 2nd Street gets a bit loud, but you get used to it after a year or two. We see a lot of local students and people from the neighborhood coming in with broken screens or just needing a cable. It’s a straightforward business. We don't have a fancy waiting area or anything like that. Just a counter and some shelves with spare parts. If you’re walking past the theater and see our sign, that’s us. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. It’s not always exciting, but it keeps us busy and the bills paid. We've seen technology change a lot, but people still have the same basic problems.
