You can find Jamia Noorul Uloom School right near the Jama Masjid in Gurna Bazar. It is a very lively part of the neighborhood, and the school is right in the thick of it. The bazaar is always full of people buying and selling things, so there is never a quiet moment during the day. I’ve spent many years here, and I’ve grown fond of the sounds of the market and the calls from the masjid. The school building is old and has a lot of character, though it needs a fresh coat of paint every now and then. We have a small entrance that leads into the main area where the classes are held. It gets quite crowded in the hallways when the students are moving between rooms, but we manage to keep things orderly. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks to get people to come here; the locals in Gurna Bazar just know us as the school by the masjid. We spend a lot of our time making sure the children are focused and that we are following the daily schedule. The heat in the afternoon can be tough, especially with the bazaar being so packed, but we have some fans that keep the air moving. It’s a very grounded place where everyone knows everyone else’s name. We just do our best with what we have and keep the doors open for anyone in the community who needs us. It is just a normal day for us here.
