Gulfam Handicrafts

Our place is over at 4038, Mehandi Sarai. It’s tucked away near the ice factory, which is how most people find us if they get lost. Gulfam Handicrafts is a bit of a crowded space. There are pieces of wood, fabric, and tools scattered all over. We make things by hand, so there’s always a bit of a mess. It smells like sawdust and glue most days. It’s not a factory with big machines, just a few of us sitting around and working on different pieces. Some days are slow, and we just sit and drink chai while we think about the next design. Other days, we’re rushing to finish something for a customer who is coming to pick it up. The ice factory nearby is a good landmark because Mehandi Sarai can be a bit confusing with all the narrow turns. We’ve been at this for years. It’s a skill passed down through the family mostly. We don't have a glossy catalog. If you want to see what we have, you just have to come by the shop and look through the shelves. Sometimes things are a bit dusty, but that’s just part of it. We take our time with the work. The old ice factory hasn't been used in years, but it's still there. Our workspace is pretty small, and it can get quite hot in the summers without air conditioning. We use the ceiling fans and keep working on the orders. It’s us doing what we know how to do, day in and day out.
