Anas Carved Furnitures

I have been running Anas Carved Furnitures out of Daud Sarai for as long as I can remember. My father taught me how to work with wood when I was just a boy, and I have stayed with it ever since. This isn't a modern factory with robots or big assembly lines. Everything we do here involves a lot of handwork. If you walk into my shop, you will see me or my helpers sitting on the floor with chisels, carefully carving patterns into teak or sheesham wood. The air is always thick with the scent of fresh shavings and wood polish. It is a messy job, and my clothes are always covered in dust by the end of the day. Daud Sarai is an old area, and we are tucked away among other small workshops. We don't have a fancy showroom with glass windows. We just have our finished pieces sitting around the workshop until the customers come to pick them up. Sometimes it takes a few weeks to finish a single bed or a set of chairs because you cannot hurry the carving process. If you rush, the wood might split, and then all that work is wasted. People come to me when they want something that looks like it was made by a person, not a machine. We don't have a website or do any marketing. We just let the work speak for itself and hope people like what we make. It is a quiet way of living, but it keeps my hands busy.
