Asian Handicrafts is located on Pul Banjaran Street, which is right near the Markaz Mazid. If you’ve ever walked through this part of town, you know it’s always crowded and full of energy. Our shop is tucked away in one of the older buildings here. It’s a place where we keep a lot of traditional handcrafted items. We don’t have a lot of space, so we have to use every inch of the walls and floor to store the goods. It’s often quite dark inside compared to the bright street outside, which helps keep it a bit cooler. We spend our days talking to people who pass by and managing the inventory that comes in from different makers. The street noise is constant—horns, people talking, and the general bustle of the market—but we don't really notice it anymore. We’ve been here long enough that it just sounds like home. We don't use any fancy sales tactics or displays. We just show people what we have and let the items speak for themselves. Sometimes the delivery carts have a hard time getting down the narrow street, so we end up carrying a lot of the boxes by hand. It’s physically demanding work sometimes, but it’s what we do. The Markaz Mazid is a good landmark for people trying to find us for the first time. We just keep things running as best as we can.
