We are located over in Kharkan, working out of Tarlok Singh’s place. Tarlok and his father Jeet Singh have lived here basically forever. Our group is all about horticulture, so we deal with fruits and vegetables mostly. It’s a bit different than just growing grain. You have to be more careful with the timing of everything. We got together as a group of farmers to handle the selling and the supplies. It’s a small operation. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just this little office in the village. Most days you’ll find one of us sitting there with a cup of tea, waiting for someone to bring in a load or talk about the market. It’s hard work, and sometimes the plants don't do what you want them to do. We talk about seeds and fertilizer and how the pests are acting this year. It’s just real talk between neighbors. We are just trying to get what we can out of our gardens and orchards. Kharkan is a good place for it. We don't put on any acts. If you need to find us, just ask for Tarlok’s house. We keep things straightforward. There's plenty of dirt under our fingernails, and that's fine with us. We handle the bags, the crates, and the transport ourselves. It’s just a bunch of local guys trying to make the horticulture side of farming work a bit better for everyone in our little corner of the world. It’s honest work.
