Fateh Rice Mill

Fateh Rice Mill is tucked away in Village Soundha, near the Mullanpur post office. It is pretty quiet out here most of the year until the rice comes in. Then the whole village seems to wake up with the sound of our mill running day and night. We have been operating here for a while, just doing what we know. The air always smells like raw grain and earth. We don't have a big sign or a polished storefront because we don't really need one. People find us easily enough in Soundha. Working in a village mill means you know everyone who walks through the gate. We see the same faces every season. The work is physical and tiring, especially when the humidity is high and the bags feel twice as heavy. We handle the drying and the hulling right here on the premises. It’s a lot of manual labor, moving sacks from one corner to the other. Our equipment is old but it works well enough if you treat it right and keep it oiled. We don’t bother with fancy talk or big promises. We just take the crops from the local fields and turn them into rice for the bags. Sometimes the rain messes with our schedule and we have to cover everything with tarps quickly. That is just part of the life here. We are just a small part of the village economy, keeping busy with the cycles of the land.
