Dindsa Rice Mill

We are over here in V.P.O. Rurki Kalan. Dindsa Rice Mill is basically just a few big sheds and some old machinery that’s been running for a long time now. If you drive down the main village road, you can’t really miss us because of the stacks of gunny bags piled up near the gate. It gets pretty loud once the machines start up in the morning. Most of us here grew up in this area, so we know how the weather affects the crop every year. When the harvest starts, the whole yard fills up with tractor-trolleys waiting their turn. It's a lot of dust and noise, but that is just how things go during the season. We spend most of our days making sure the hullers are working right and the husk is being moved out back. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit around the tea stall near the entrance until it comes back on. It isn’t a fancy place. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint and the office is usually cluttered with old ledger books and receipts. People around Rurki Kalan know us as just the local mill where the work gets done without much fuss. We don’t have any big slogans or anything. We just watch the moisture in the grain and try to keep the belts running. That’s pretty much the whole story of this place.
