Rourkela is a city built on steel, so Scan Steel Limited fits right in here. Our office is in the Police Colony in Uditnagar, at Qr.No-D/16. It’s a straightforward area in the Sundargarh district of Orissa. We’ve been here for a good while, managing the different parts of the steel business. It’s not a glamorous job. We spend our time looking at spreadsheets and talking to truck drivers about why they’re running late. The office is functional and nothing more. We have some fans to keep us cool during the Rourkela heat and enough chairs for the staff. We don't have a big corporate culture here; it's more about getting the job done so we can go home to our families. We see a lot of the same people every week, so we’ve built up some decent relationships without needing any formal networking. People know where we are if they need to discuss an order. The roads around Uditnagar can get pretty congested, especially with all the industrial traffic, but we are used to it by now. We don't put out any advertisements or try to act like we are the biggest players in the market. We just handle our specific corner of the steel trade and try to keep things honest and simple for everyone involved. It isn't always easy, but we make it work and keep the orders moving along as best as we can every day.
