Rafting Rishikesh

Our base is at 23 Ashutosh Nagar on the Dehradun Road. It’s the main road that everyone takes, so we are pretty easy to spot when you’re heading toward the mountains. This is where we keep the life jackets, the oars, and all the river gear when it’s not out on the water. The office itself is quite plain. We have some old photos of the river and some schedules taped to the walls. We spend a lot of our time talking to people who want to go rafting and explaining which stretches of the river are running that day. It’s a lot of paperwork and phone calls to coordinate the boats and the vehicles. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic in the morning when the groups are arriving and we are trying to get everyone’s sizes right for the gear. We aren't a big corporate company; we are just a group of people who know the river well and work out of this spot in Rishikesh. There’s usually a pot of tea going and some damp gear drying out back. We like being on Dehradun Road because it feels like the start of the adventure for most people. We stay busy during the season and then things quiet down when the rains come and the water gets too high.
