Raj Sanitary & Building Material

We are located at 16/43 on New Road, right in the same building as the ICICI Bank. It’s a busy spot, so parking is always a bit of a headache for us and the customers. Raj Sanitary & Building Material has been here since before the bank was this busy. We sell the things you’d expect—pipes, taps, cement bags, and heaps of bricks. The back of the shop is usually a bit of a mess with all the inventory. I’ve worked here for years and I still trip over the occasional pipe left in the walkway. It’s a practical business. We don't do much marketing because people around here just know where we are. If someone is fixing a leak or building a wall, they stop by. My hands are usually a bit dirty from moving stuff around, but that's just the job. We have a small desk where we handle the cash and the bills. It’s a bit loud with the traffic from New Road right outside, but you get used to it after a week. We don't have any big corporate goals. We just want to sell our stock and get home to our families at the end of the day. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the shutters go down at night. Sometimes the bank customers come in by mistake, and we just point them to the right door.
