Down at Plot No 4- A1 in the Industrial Estate Ratlam, things are pretty loud most of the time. Ajmera Steels Pvt. Ltd. is basically where we spend our whole day dealing with stacks of metal and heavy machinery. It's dusty and the air usually smells like iron, but that’s just how an industrial estate works. We’ve got a small crew here. Most of us have been working with steel for years, so we know the difference between a good batch and stuff that’s going to give us trouble later on. We don’t really have a fancy reception area or anything like that. If you come by, you’ll probably find someone in overalls covered in grease or soot. We spend a lot of time loading trucks and checking the measurements on the beams before they go out. It’s heavy work, and our backs definitely feel it by the end of the shift. Ratlam gets pretty warm in the summer, and the shed gets even hotter, but we keep the water cooler full and just keep moving. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend half the morning fixing a belt or oiling the joints. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. We try to keep the yard organized so we don't lose track of the different grades of steel we keep on hand. People know where to find us when they need something solid for a project. We just show up and do the work.
