Out in the Ranga Reddy district, specifically in Moinabad, there is a place called Kanakamamidi. That is where you will find Vikas B.Ed College Of Education. The address is 6-106/1, and it is a bit of a trek from the main parts of Hyderabad, but it is quieter out here. The air is a bit fresher than the city center. We spend our time preparing future teachers. It’s a lot of paper work and talking in classrooms. The building is solid and has been there for a while. We have a lot of students who travel from quite far away to get here. You can see them waiting for buses or riding their bikes down the road. It’s a very local feel, nothing like those big private universities with the fancy gates. We know most of the people around the village. Sometimes we have to deal with the heat in the summer, which can be pretty intense in Telangana. We just keep the windows open and hope for a breeze. It’s a straightforward life here. We don't use a lot of big words or make grand promises. We just provide the space and the books for people to learn how to teach. It’s a practical place for practical people. That is really the long and short of it for us here in Chilkur. We just keep going, day after day, helping folks get through their teacher training.
