Shilpa Beauty Parlour

Sector 2 in Dhurwa is where we’ve set up Shilpa Beauty Parlour. Ranchi is a city that’s always changing, but our little corner feels pretty consistent. We aren't in one of those new shopping malls. We are just a regular shop in the sector. It’s easy to find if you know the area. The building isn't brand new, and neither is the furniture inside, but everything works. We keep things clean and organized as best as we can. Working in Dhurwa, you get to know the families. We see people who came here as kids now bringing their own children. It makes you feel a bit old, but it’s nice. We don’t spend money on big ads or flyers. We just have our name on the door and that is about it. Some days it’s just one or two people, and other days everyone shows up at once. You never really know how the day will go. We just take it as it comes. The language we use is simple, and we don’t try to act like we’re in a big city like Mumbai. We’re in Ranchi, and we like it that way. If someone needs a quick trim or something else, they know where to find us. It’s a honest way to earn a living. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of us who know what we’re doing and try to do right by the people who come in.
