We've been here in Shastri Nagar for a long while now. Being so close to the Sainik School, we see the students and staff passing by every single day. The mill is mostly about the noise of the machines and the smell of raw pulses getting processed. It’s a bit dusty, honestly, but that’s just how it is when you’re dealing with dal all day long. My father started this, and now we just keep it going, making sure the bags are filled and everything is ready for the local shops. Banbarjori is a quiet enough place, though the mornings are usually our busiest time. We spend a lot of our hours just checking the grain and talking to the farmers who bring their harvest in. Sometimes the power goes out, which is a pain, but we manage. People around here know where to find us if they need a few sacks of dal. It’s not fancy work, but it keeps us busy from sunrise till we lock up in the evening. We have a few guys helping with the heavy lifting because those bags aren't getting any lighter. If you walk past the school and head towards our corner, you’ll probably hear the hum of the motors before you see the sign. It’s just a regular life here, day in and day out, working with what we have.
