About Chawanda Cement Tiles – Building & Construction Material in Rajsamand
Being right by the Badarda Bus Stand on NH-8 means we see a lot of people coming and going every day. At Chawanda Cement Tiles, we spend most of our time out in the yard or near the mixers. Making cement tiles is a messy job, there is no way around it. Your hands are always covered in grey dust and the sound of the machines is constant. We have a few different molds that we use to get the shapes right. It is not a high-tech factory. We do a lot of things by hand because that is how we learned to do it. The sun hits the yard pretty hard in the middle of the day, which helps the tiles dry faster, but it makes the work tiring. We usually have a small group of guys working the press and others moving the finished pieces to the stacks. Sometimes a batch doesn't turn out quite right if the mix is off, so we have to start over. We don't have any fancy sales talk to give people. Usually, someone pulls over because they saw our sign or they live nearby in the village and need some flooring for a porch or a walkway. It’s steady work and it keeps us busy from morning till sunset. We just keep making the tiles and hope the rain stays away when they are sitting out to cure. It is a simple life and we like it.
