Santi Machine Tools

We’ve been here at 38-B in Bakatinagar Udhyognagar for quite a while now. It’s part of the Gidc Estate, so there is always a lot of noise and trucks moving around outside. Inside Santi Machine Tools, things are usually just as busy. We spend most of our days dealing with various machine parts and the tools that keep everything running in other shops. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular workshop with oil on the floor and metal shavings in the corners. Most of us here have been working with these machines for years, so we know the sounds they make when something isn't right. Sometimes the heat in the estate gets pretty bad, especially in the afternoons, but we just keep the fans going and get on with the work. People stop by because they know we are usually around from early morning until late. The neighbors are mostly doing similar work, so it feels like a real community of makers and fixers. We don't have a big front office or anything like that. You just walk in through the main door and you’ll find someone working on a lathe or checking a shipment. It gets dusty, and the tea guy comes by twice a day, which is the highlight of the afternoon. We just focus on getting the machine tools out the door so people can finish their own projects. It’s simple work, but it keeps us busy every day.
