About Akhilesh Joshi Photography – Photography in Rajkot
I run things out of 21 Raj Police Complex, which is right opposite Nakshatra 5. It’s not a huge studio with all those expensive lights you see in magazines. It’s more of a homey space where I keep my cameras and a computer for editing. The walls have some of my older prints on them, mostly just to cover up the marks where the paint is peeling a bit. Living and working in the police complex area is pretty quiet, which I like when I am trying to focus on finishing a set of photos. Sometimes the light coming through the window isn't great, so I have to move my desk around. I spend a lot of hours sitting in a chair that probably needs replacing, clicking through images and trying to make sure the colors look okay. There is always a stack of memory cards on the table and I have a habit of losing my favorite lens cap. People usually find me through word of mouth rather than some big advertisement. I don't use any fancy talk when people call me. I just tell them when I'm free and what I can do. It’s just me, Akhilesh Joshi Photography, trying to capture things as they are. My coffee mug is always half-full and cold because I forget to drink it while I'm working. It’s a bit messy but it’s how I get things done.
