Rajdeep Bangles

Rajdeep Bangles is situated right across from the Panjrapol Building on Sant Kabir Road. If you know that building, you can’t miss us. The shop is filled with rows and rows of bangles in every color you can think of. It’s a bright place because of all the glass reflecting the light. I spend a lot of time organizing them by size and color, which is a job that never really ends. People come in looking for specific shades to match their outfits for weddings or festivals. My daughter helps out on her days off from school. She has a better eye for the trends than I do. Sant Kabir Road is always full of activity, especially in the evenings. We have a small bench outside where older folks sometimes sit and chat. The shop isn't very large, so if more than four people come in at once, it feels very full. I remember when we first moved here, the road wasn't even paved properly. Now it’s a main thoroughfare. We have to keep the glass cases very clean because the dust from the street gets everywhere. It’s a lot of wiping and polishing. Sometimes a bangle breaks, and I have to sweep up the pieces carefully. It’s a simple life. I like the colors and the way the bangles clink together when I move them around on the rods. It’s what I know and it keeps me busy.
