Nilkamal Tea

If you find yourself driving down Gundala Road in the Rajkot district, you’ll see the turn for Umiya Estate. We are right there at Door No-1. Nilkamal Tea has been running out of this space for quite some time now. It’s an industrial area, so there is always a lot of dust and noise from the other units nearby. Our building is pretty basic, just brick and concrete, but it serves its purpose for what we do with the tea. We spend a lot of time weighing out leaves and sealing bags. Some mornings it is quite cold here, especially in the winter months, so we usually have a pot of tea going for the staff. The trucks come and go from the main gate of the estate all day long. It gets a bit chaotic when three or four arrive at once, trying to squeeze into the loading area. Inside, we have rows of shelves filled with different grades of tea. We don’t have fancy carpets or glass walls. It’s mostly just us in our work clothes, making sure the daily tasks are finished before the sun goes down. People around here know us as the place at the start of the estate. We don’t really have a big sign, just the address on the door. It’s a simple setup, but it works for us and the locals who drop by.
