This office is located on the ground floor of the Jeevan Prakash building on Tagore Marg. If you are in Rajkot, you probably know the area because it is quite central. We are part of the LHPF department here. Being on the ground floor is lucky because it stays a bit cooler and people don't have to climb any stairs to find us. It is a busy place, especially in the mornings when everyone is rushing to get their paperwork filed. There are many of us working in this section, and the sound of keyboards and people talking fills the room all day. My desk is tucked into a corner, and I have a small picture of my family and a half-dead cactus sitting there. We deal with a lot of internal documents and helping people who walk in with questions about their accounts. It is not like the movies where offices are all shiny and clean. There are stacks of folders everywhere and sometimes the printer jams right when you are in a hurry. We just deal with it and keep moving. Rajkot is a lively city, and you can hear the traffic from Tagore Marg even through the walls. I usually bring my own lunch and eat quickly so I can get back to the files. It is a steady job and we have a good group of people here. We just try to help everyone who comes to the window as best as we can.
