If you head down Dheabar Road and turn into Chhaniyara Estate, you’ll find us. Laxmi Jyot Machine Tools is basically a big workshop filled with the sound of grinding and turning. It’s a dusty part of the world, and we’ve got the grit on our windows to prove it. We don’t really do much to keep the place looking pretty because that’s not what pays the bills. Our focus is on the machine tools. We have rows of lathes and milling machines that have been working hard for a long time. The guys here have greasy hands most of the day. It’s a bit chaotic when three or four jobs are happening at once. You might trip over a crate if you aren't looking where you’re going. We’ve had the same group of workers for years, and we all just kind of know the routine. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we spend half the day fixing it ourselves. That’s just part of the deal when you run a shop like this. We aren't trying to be the biggest name in India. We just want to make sure the parts we send out are solid. It’s a simple life, really. We open up early, drink a lot of tea while the machines warm up, and work until the light fades. There isn't much more to it than that.
