I run Kunal Mehta Photography out of Rajkot. Most of my work involves me moving around different parts of the city with my bags and tripods. I don't really have a fixed studio where people come to me; instead, I go to wherever the action is happening. Rajkot has a lot of interesting corners and streets that make for good backgrounds. I’ve been doing this for a while, and my gear has seen a lot of use. It’s not always easy work, especially when the weather isn't cooperating or when I have to stand for hours to get one shot. After the shooting is done, I spend a lot of time at my desk at home, sorting through hundreds of images. It can be a bit lonely sometimes, just me and the screen, but I like the process of seeing it all come together. I don't have a secretary or anyone to handle my emails, so if you get a message, it’s coming directly from me. I like keeping it that way because it feels more honest. I don't use any fancy filters or try to make things look like something they aren't. I just take the pictures as I see them. Most people find me because they saw my work somewhere else or a friend told them about me. It’s a quiet way to make a living and I’m happy with it.
