J.K. Cottage Industries

Our place is on Morbi Road, specifically in the area known as Jai Javan, Jai Kisan. It’s a long road with a lot of dust and trucks moving back and forth all day long. We operate out of a modest building that fits the cottage industry style. It isn't a massive factory, but we use every inch of the space we have. There are piles of materials in the corners and the sound of small machines humming is the background noise for our entire day. We don't have a professional cleaning crew or a receptionist in a suit. Usually, whoever is closest to the door greets whoever walks in. We spend our time managing the work and making sure the items are ready, even if the surroundings are a bit messy. The walls are covered in notes and old photos. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we have a couple of big pedestal fans that move the air around. Working on Morbi Road means we are right in the thick of the local trade. We see the same faces every day and we like it that way. It’s a bit of a grind sometimes, especially when the weather is bad or the deliveries are late, but we just keep at it. It’s honest work and we don’t try to dress it up for anyone. We just want to finish the orders and go home to our families at the end of the day. It is our life.
